I liked this episode because it was well written and very exciting, two winning combinations. I thought Sydney stole an important piece of jewelry from Amanda, since Sydney is always decked out in jewelry. I was wrong because Amanda thinks Sydney stole a painting. Maybe David has it, since he has a history of stealing items worth millions of dollars.

I knew that Michael getting arrested was too easy. It seems that Vanessa has a bad side, since she is the one who killed Sydney. I think that is a great twist, since no one suspected her in the first place.

I knew in my gut that Lauren was going to get drugged. She definitely has some explaining to do when she wakes up in the hospital. My thought is Lauren is going to lie and say she is been using drugs so she will not have to admit that she is a hooker. It is the only way for her to save her skin and spare David’s feelings. The bad part is Rick will go unpunished for spiking her drink.

I enjoyed the flashback of when Vanessa killed Sydney and framed David. I have to wonder if Michael is Noah’s real father? In another flashback Sydney tells Violet she wants to get to know her. I have to wonder if Violet is just imagining that. Did it really happen?

I knew Violet was going to end up killing Vanessa. The look in her eyes when she found out the truth said it all. She wanted to hurt Vanessa. The bad part is Amanda seeing the whole thing, now she has something to hold over Violet forever. I think Violet is going to play a part in finding the stolen painting.

I think it was the right thing for Jonah and Riley to break up. It was obvious that Riley does not know what she wants. I do think it was too soon for Jonah to jump into bed with Ella, but I knew that was going to happen eventually.

Riley and Auggie better watch their backs since Violet saw them kiss. It was the right thing for Riley to turn Auggie down since she is so confused. I really believe Violet is capable of anything. Jealousy and betrayal are her worst enemies.

I thought this episode was really exciting because a lot of the stories reached a new height. Violet got mad at Riley for turning Auggie over to the police. I thought Violet was going to get even with Riley somehow for hurting Auggie, since that has been her pattern of behavior. When Violet’s adopted brother Levi comes into the picture, I had the feeling they were an item and I was right. I think Violet used him until he was no good to her anymore, which is part of the reason why she left home. Violet made Levi dependent on her to stay away from drugs, turning herself into his next addiction. Ella really manipulated Jonah to get her hands on Amanda’s emails. It proves she does not care about anyone but herself. I actually thought Jonah would not go through with it, but he surprised me and did what Ella wanted. Maybe it is because he has feelings for her, and cannot admit it. When Jonah finds the email that proves it was Ella’s fault he did not get the director’s credit, it finally opens his eyes. That relationship reached a new level and it was nicely done. I think Michael did falsify a patient’s records in order to make Lauren look bad, because he threatened David about her. My favorite scenes were with Riley, Violet, and Levi because of how exciting they were. I was surprised that Riley paid Levi off, considering the fight she had with Violet earlier. Maybe it was her way of smoothing things over. I do not think she should have done it because she and Jonah have no source of income. The break in scene was great, but Jonah was right in saying that every time Violet is around something bad happens. When Lauren told Michael about David stealing, I had the feeling she was setting him up, and I was right. It was the perfect trap that Michael fell right into, and got arrested. I wonder if this is really the end of Sydney’s murder.

The mystery of who killed Sydney continues as David believes he was framed by his father. That is a definite possibility after what David found in Michael’s car. I have to wonder if Michael is the type of guy who would do something like that to his own son.

I think Riley did the right thing by not agreeing to lie about her background. I think she should have stayed on as a model since it was a success. I liked how the scene when she tells the truth was shot. It was a great way for her story to come out. It had the biggest effect on Ella since it came out that way.

My favorite part of the episode is when David surprises Lauren at home. I think it was really well done and I hope the idea of a romance for them is in place. I think David should find out what Lauren is up to. Maybe he will be the one who gets her to stop.

I think Violet and Auggie are taking advantage of each other. There’s nothing between them but sex, and that’s not a real relationship. Violet is using Auggie’s weakness for drinking to get him into bed. Auggie is using Violet to forget about Riley and how much she means to him.

The biggest question I have is about Ella’s sexuality. It keeps coming up and I think it should be clarified. Maybe someone catches her kissing another woman, and it’s a big scandal for the company.

I was surprised when Ella didn’t do what Amanda asked to get Riley fired. I honestly thought she would considering she doesn’t like Riley and wants Jonah for herself. I’m glad she didn’t sink to Amanda’s level, but it’s clear this woman is ruthless.

Auggie is now wanted for Sydney’s murder, because the police found a knife with his blood on it. This confuses me because David was looking pretty guilty in the last episode. He was the one who buried the knife with blood on it. I wonder if David framed Auggie or his prints got on the murder weapon before David’s did. Maybe Auggie stabbed Sydney, and dropped the knife. David wakes up, thinks he did it, and tries to hide the evidence.

I knew it was going to create problems for Jonah and Riley’s relationship, when it was revealed that Riley knows where Auggie is hiding. It is a tough situation because it tests where Riley’s loyalties are. I do think Jonah and Riley have trust issues no matter what they say. Auggie and Ella would not be an issue if they actually trusted and believed in each other. I think the scene where Violet tells Riley about her and Auggie being intimate was well done. The expression on Riley’s face was subtle, yet perfect. It was just enough to convince me of her feelings for Auggie and how the thought of him with another woman makes her skin crawl.

I think the part where David’s brother Noah got hurt was a little too predictable. I knew in my gut something was going to happen to the child. Maybe one of the people David stole from could have kidnapped him. While in captive, Noah gets hurt somehow. I think that would have been more interesting.

I liked the scene where Michael walks into his office and hears panting noises. It was shot very nicely because you could not see what it was at first. I liked how the video of Michael and Violet was slowly revealed, and not just a straight shot.

I think Ella is right in believing that Jonah would not have pretended to be her fionce if he secretly did not want it. There were plenty of other ways to stop the director from hitting on Ella. She could have put a stop to it herself without offending him, or Jonah could have said something. Deep down I think he has feelings for Ella.

My favorite scene was the last one with Lauren and David. I loved the quick flashes of her and “clients,” after David kissed her. I like them together and I think that it should be explored. David should find out about Lauren’s night job. Maybe he will be the one to get her to stop selling herself, just like she got him to stop stealing. That would be some great irony.

This episode was interesting because of the flashbacks that gave us some back story on the characters. and David met for the first time at the cemetery. I have to wonder if Sydney was already with David’s father, and if so how could David not have known? I loved the flashbacks with David drunk and blood all over him because of how blurry it looked. It fit with David’s state of mind, and was a good editing technique. It gave us a sense of how completely out of it he was. Maybe David really is the killer? He could have killed Sydney and blacked out from being drunk. I definitely got the sense that David wanted to hurt Sydney for using him to get to his father. What made it worse was David having real feelings for Sydney. I think if he did kill Sydney, it was because of how drunk he was. That’s no excuse, but I honestly think if David was sober, he wouldn’t have hurt Sydney. It proves how dangerous getting high can be, since emotions tend to run wild.

Ella offers money to Lauren to make the scandal about a client’s over dose go away. I thought Ella was going to use Lauren’s night job to get what she wants. Since Lauren doesn’t want her secret getting out, I honestly thought she would change the client’s medical records. I guess Ella and Lauren are full of surprises or they are better friends then I thought. I think Ella made the right choice by letting the story come out. It was the only way for the star to get help. I think if Ella had covered this up, it would have enabled the celebrity, and he probably would have overdosed again. Maybe the next time he wouldn’t have been so lucky.

I have a funny feeling about Jonah and Riley, especially after the fight they had at the wedding. Ever since Riley hesitated about accepting Jonah’s proposal, I’ve believed that she doesn’t want to marry him. I think she is too scared to admit it, which explains her attraction to Auggie. There should be no hesitation when accepting a marriage proposal, if there is the answer should be no. I liked how they videotaped a wedding together because it stirred the pot long enough for them to realize they have a problem. In a way the wedding set was symbolic for them. It gave Jonah and Riley a taste of what is ahead in their future. It was a bad move for Jonah to kiss Kendra, even though he only did it because Riley kissed Auggie. Now they are even, but they shouldn’t be kissing other people since they are engaged. I disagree with Riley telling Auggie they can’t hang out anymore. Pushing Auggie away won’t change how Riley feels about him. I think it will make things worse, because the temptation will always be there.

WINDSOR

It was a big surprise for Riley, when she was ordered to pose topless for the shoot. I think she should have been warned beforehand. Jo definitely pushed her too hard with all her accusations and trying to get inside Riley’s head. The only thing that accomplished is getting a rise out of Riley. I think she did the right thing by walking out of the shoot. If something doesn’t feel right, the best thing to do is walk away, no matter what the cost.

This episode was very special to me because of the scenes at Paramount Studios, and the shots of Melrose Ave. I took classes at Raleigh Studios on that same street, and toured Paramount with my class. It was a wonderful time for me, and I really learned a lot about the television industry. Jonah’s interview was very well portrayed in terms of writing and acting. It reminded me of one of my interviews, and how uneasy that situation can be. You want so badly to do well, but you don’t know if you’re going to be on the same page as the interviewer. The worst part is you have no control over what happens, it’s that unpredictable. What happened at Jonah’s interview is something that happens all the time. You have a great idea and vision, but the director wants to change it completely. The only thing you can do, especially for someone who is just starting out, is compromise.

For awhile now I’ve been wondering what David is up to, now I know. He steals jewelry from white collar criminals, who live in big mansions. I’m not sure about the logic behind this, or what David hopes to gain. I know he has issues with his dad, but how is this getting back at him? All I see is David hurting people who remind him of his father, and making enemies in the process. As for Lauren, I don’t know what’s worse: taking money for sex or money that is the result of stealing. I am glad she eventually refused his loan, now that she knows where it is coming from. I just wish she would not have to sell herself to go to med school.

I was disappointed that Jonah didn’t confront Riley about her kiss with Auggie. I think it would have made the scene stronger and more emotional. My gut is telling me that Riley does not want to marry Jonah, and she is doing it because it is comfortable. I think it was hypocritical of Riley to say there are not any secrets between her and Jonah, yet she doesn’t tell him about Auggie.

Violet keeps getting more and more crazy with each episode. It’s obvious she destroyed the eggs that Riley and Auggie bet on. Violet can’t stand Auggie bonding with anyone, and wrecking those eggs is a sign that she will hurt anyone who gets in her way. Violet seemed to like Riley, until she figured out how close she is with Auggie. Violet just wants Auggie all to herself.

SHORELINE

Posted by: televisiondramas on: October 18, 2009

I liked the opening shot of Violet snooping around in Auggie’s room. There were some really nice fade ins’ and fade outs. It was a great method for showing the passage of time. That scene proved my thought of Violet being obsessed with Auggie and Sydney. I wonder how far she’ll go to get Auggie’s attention.

I think it was a great move for Riley to model for a big campaign. Real people wearing designer clothes are a definite selling point. I didn’t get the impression it was a “Riley” thing to do, but it is a way of her coming out of her shell that is familiar.

Lauren should have stayed at the party, not that I like what she is doing. It would have made it more interesting to have David discover her. Would she tell him the truth or make up a cover story? He could have discovered Lauren by seeing her with a guy who was violent. David would have saved the day, and found out the truth. Or, Lauren could have told him a million reasons why she was there in the first place.

Michael definitely proved that he is more like his son then he realizes. It didn’t take much for him to cheat on his wife. Violet believes he’s the reason she didn’t get to know Sydney, because Michael wouldn’t let her get better. That doesn’t make sense to me. Is Violet talking about Sydney’s addiction to alcohol? Why would Michael not want her to be sober? The killer is the reason Violet didn’t get to know Sydney. If that’s Michael then she was somewhat justified in going after him. I think the reason for Violet seducing and blackmailing Michael should have been made clearer. Maybe the reason could have been Michael rejecting Sydney to be in his life.

Lauren’s situation has made me wonder if she is going to end up liking being a call girl more than med school? It doesn’t seem like it now, but that could change.

I liked the quick flashes before Ella’s memory of Sydney started. It is a great preview tactic.

I wonder why David is stealing if he has money or does he? Is he living off of money that Michael throws his way? Even though they don’t get along Michael could be giving David money to keep him from living under the same roof as him and his family.

I don’t think Ella killed Sydney. I think she was trying to find something to hold over Sydney’s head so she would leave Ella alone.

Violet has a major jealous and possessive streak. She misread a moment between Kiera and Auggie, then went to great lengths to get Kiera fired. Violet wanted to get rid of the competition for Auggie’s attention and get a better job. Talk about killing two birds with one stone. I have to wonder if Violet killed Sydney. It would make sense since Auggie and Sydney were involved. It would be Violet’s way of killing the connection they had. If Sydney lied to Violet about being her mother, and rejecting her. That is a big motive for Violet to kill her. Something tells me Violet doesn’t take rejection easily. I also wonder if Violet stole the necklace that was in Jonah’s video. He’s made it clear he doesn’t trust or like her, so maybe Violet was trying to teach him a lesson. I have a hard time believing it was something simple like the maid misplacing it.

This episode filled me with lots of questions. Maybe I don’t understand everything because I didn’t watch the original “Melrose Place.” I wonder if Jane is working with the police somehow, because how did she know that Violet was a fugitive? There has to be verification that Violet is Sydney’s daughter. I think she should get a DNA test. Violet lied about Sydney’s reaction to finding out she had a daughter to make herself look less guilty. If Violet ran from the police because she was afraid they found out she stole money from her parents, then why was the police questioning her about Sydney’s murder, and not her parents? I think Violet made that up as a cover story. She wasn’t exactly clear on what kind of people her parents were. Violet never said they were abusive, just that she wasn’t happy with them.

I was talking to a friend of mine who is somewhat familiar with the original “Melrose Place,” and she said that Sydney was pregnant at some point. That makes me wonder if Sydney lied about not having a baby. Jane seems to have a personal grudge against Ella. I have to wonder what she wants from Ella besides her client. Maybe she wants Ella to promote her fashion line. I’d like to know more about Jane’s marriage to Michael. It’s interesting how both sisters were married to the same man, and it ended with both couples splitting up.

The most exciting scene was with Lauren and her “date.” She should have gotten the money beforehand, not that I agree with what she is doing at all. I was scared that guy was going to do more then push her. At first I wondered why Lauren didn’t report him for assault, but then I realized they both have a lot to loose. This could get out and ruin Lauren’s chances at medical school. We don’t know who this guy is, what he is, or his reputation.

I have a feeling Violet is going to become obsessed with Auggie. He doesn’t seem as interested in her as she is in him. I think she was, and still is, obsessed with Sydney too.

There’s something about Riley and Jonah’s engagement that doesn’t seem right. Riley hesitated to say yes and didn’t even tell anybody when she did. That is really weird. What I don’t get is why she is hesitating so much. I think she is drawn to Auggie because he is not asking her to settle down. This makes me believe that a love triangle between Riley, Jonah, and Auggie will form.

I think Michael is collecting information on everyone who lives in Sydney’s building, to use in his favor. That explains why he chose Lauren to be on his team. He wants to keep an eye on her. Maybe he will use the information he’s gathered to pin the murder on someone else. Now I think Auggie, Violet, or Michael could have killed Sydney.
